The Lochinvar SHIELD’ Commercial Water Heater comes in three additional models since the company upgraded the product. In addition to the original models, the new Lochinvar SHIELD’ units come in a 125,000 btu/hr variety that stores 65 gallons as well 150,000 btu/hr and the 200,000 btu/hr models that are available in in ASME construction and original standard construction options.With the addition of these new units, the SHIELD’ line now includes a total of eight models to meet commercial needs in 65-, 90-, and 120-gallon varieties. This expands the line and takes into account the latest technology developments that can lower costs and yield better outputs.

Notable New Features

The newly designed Lochinvar SHIELD’ Commercial Water Heater consists of a few new features. In order to simplify the installation process, the water, gas, vent, and air connections have all been moved to the top of the unit. Additionally, the footprint and overall height of the equipment has been decreased so it can better fit into tight spaces. To lower the potential for leaks, there are fewer connection points in the water recirculation piping; the older units had 23 connections and the new units have 11 connections.

The control board has been relocated to the front of the unit, which provides easier access behind the bezel on the front of the appliance. Password security, adjustable pump delay and the ability to enable contacts from the control module are other control operations that have been added for extra convenience, safety and efficiency.

In the redesign, you’ll still find the stainless steel heat transfer system outside of the tank, which provides high efficiency, yielding lower operating costs. It can fire as low as 20 percent of its maximum input at times of low demand and rise to 100 percent during times when demand is high, enhancing efficiency levels even more.
